6 Tips to Staying Sane During Quarantine

Ever since COVID there are 6 key things that have become ever so important to me:

  • Hygiene
  • Getting Fresh Air
  • Exercising/Meditation
  • Eating
  • Sleeping 
  • Quality Bonding Time


Being a mommy to a baby who is G Tube fed can be super tiring, we are up all night managing feeds, calories, flushes and wires.  So we have to make sure we are taking care of ourselves so we can perform another day. I have found that bathing and eating sometimes fall through the cracks. I mean I didn’t even eat in front of MJ while she was 100% fed on the tube. I didn't leave her alone for a second because I didn't want her to pull out the G Tube, so I didn't eat and would only bath when and if she fell asleep. So I created a little schedule that helped me tackle all 6 key things. 


I waited until MJ was asleep for her afternoon nap so I could shower and eat. Her afternoon nap can last up to 2 hours (on a good day). Most days are good days for MJ. Within the first 20 minutes of her nap I like to clear my mind by meditating and praying (prayers help). Next order of business is to shower, then eat. Once this is done, I still have an hour to nap and cook dinner or check email. 


On nice days, towards the end of the day we take strolls around the neighborhood (nothing too far) and we sing songs along the way. I really like this bonding time. I sometimes get so overwhelmed that I forget to enjoy the ride of parenting. In order to enjoy the ride, we have to accept the ride and take care of myself.. Since having MJ, I have learned how to survive on less than 5 hours of sleep which is just enough time to operate a vehicle and keep my eyes open LOL, just kidding.
